How long a table does each length suit?

A common rule for a linear fixture is a length of about half to two-thirds of the table's length. By that rule, the 39.4″ size suits a table roughly 5 to 6.5 feet long, and the 47.3″ size suits a table roughly 6 to 8 feet long. Both are 11.9″ wide, so the table should be at least about 24″ wide to keep the fixture inside its edges. A kitchen island of similar length works too.

Will I see the bulbs? Should I pick white or amber?

No, the glass is opaque, so the bulbs are hidden and each tube glows as a soft, even shape. In white, the light looks clean and bright. In amber, the glow is warm and honey-toned, which suits a dim, cozy dining room. If you want the brightest look, choose white. If you want a warm mood even with a cooler bulb, choose amber.

Does opaque glass make it dim? Which bulbs should I buy?

Opaque glass spreads the light and absorbs some of it, so choose a brighter LED than you would with clear glass, while staying within the fixture's maximum wattage. The socket is E14, which is slightly wider than the E12 base common in the US, so check the base on the box. Both LED and Edison bulbs fit, and because the glass hides the bulbs, the bulb's look matters less than its brightness and colour temperature.

Can I hang it over a bathroom vanity or on a patio?

No. It is rated IP20, which means no protection against water, so it is for dry indoor rooms only. Do not hang it in a bathroom, over a shower or bathtub, or on a covered patio. A dining room, kitchen island or entryway is what it is designed for.

Can I dim it?

It is listed as compatible with common wall switches, which are not included. Dimming is not listed. If you want to use a dimmer, ask us first so we can confirm it works with your bulbs and setup.

How do I clean the opaque glass tubes?

Switch it off and let the bulbs cool. Opaque glass shows dust and fingerprints easily, so wipe each tube with a soft, dry microfiber cloth, holding it steady with your other hand, because the tubes hang from small hooks. For marks, use a cloth lightly dampened with water, and keep liquid cleaners off the brass finish.
