Sculptural Cut-Out Hollowed Oval Alabaster Master Bedside Nightstand Lamp

The base is listed as alabaster, a natural stone, so every base has its own pattern of clouds, veins and tone. Yours will be similar to the photo, with the same milky white and soft cream drifts, but not identical. Alabaster is translucent, so when the lamp is on, the stone glows warmer and creamier than it looks when it is off.

It is a cut-out in the stone, with a warm glow showing through it, so the base looks like a lantern. Ask us whether the glow comes from the main bulb or from a separate light in the base before you order, if that matters for how you plan to use the lamp. When the lamp is on, the stone around the window also glows softly.

E27 is the standard screw base in Europe and much of Asia. Homes in the US use E26, which is very close, and E26 bulbs generally fit an E27 socket, but check the base printed on the box before you buy. The maximum is 40W, and an LED gives plenty of light well under that, with little heat. A warm white bulb (about 2700K) gives the creamiest glow through the shade and the stone.

The white drum shade spreads the light into a soft, even glow, and light also comes out of the top and the bottom of the shade, so it lights the table and the wall. It is bright enough for a bedside lamp, and for reading if you choose a bright LED bulb within the 40W limit. Dimming is not listed, so ask us first if you want to use a dimmer.

The lamp works on 110–240V, so it can run in most countries, but plugs differ from country to country. The plug type can be customised, so tell us your country or the plug type you need when you order, and we will fit the right one. The cord is 150cm (59″) long, with an in-line switch on it.

Unplug the lamp and let the bulb cool. Dust the stone with a soft, dry cloth or brush. Alabaster is a soft stone that scratches and stains easily and reacts to acids, so avoid water, vinegar, lemon, glass cleaner and abrasive pads. Wipe the brass with a dry cloth. The stone base is heavy for its size, so lift the lamp by the base and not the shade. At 14.2″ wide, it needs a surface at least 12″ deep, and it is for indoor use only.
