A common rule is to add the room's length and width in feet and use that number as the fixture's diameter in inches. For example, a 10 × 13 foot room adds up to 23, so the 22.9″ size is a good match. By that rule, the 18.9″ size suits rooms where length plus width is about 19 feet, such as a small bedroom or hallway, and the 25.6″ size suits rooms around 26 feet, such as a larger living room or kitchen.

Very little. The fixture sits close to the ceiling and is only 6.7″ tall in the smallest size, and 8.3″ tall in the two larger sizes. There is no rod or chain, so nothing hangs lower than the glass ribbons themselves. In a walkway, keep the bottom of the fixture at least 7 feet above the floor, which works under most standard ceilings.

Each socket is rated for up to 40W, so stay at or below that. Heat collects in a fixture that sits close to the ceiling, so we recommend LED bulbs, which run far cooler than halogen. The socket is G9, a small two-pin capsule base with no screw thread, so E12, E14 and E26 bulbs will not fit. Check that the box says G9.

The dimpled glass picks up the light in small, glinting patterns, so the ribbons look textured and glowing and not like plain coloured glass. The brass plates behind the bulbs reflect warm light into the glass, which gives the blue golden highlights where the ribbons curl. Unlit, it looks cooler and more aqua.

It is hardwired and we recommend professional installation. It works on 110–240V, which includes standard US household voltage. It is rated IP20 for indoor dry locations only, so do not install it in a bathroom, over a shower or bathtub, or on a covered patio.

It is listed as compatible with a standard wall switch, which is not included. Dimming is not listed. If you want to use a dimmer, ask us first so we can confirm it works with your bulbs and setup.

Switch it off and let the bulbs cool. Dust settles in the dimples, so use a soft, dry brush first, then a dry microfiber cloth, supporting each ribbon with your other hand. Wipe the brass with a dry soft cloth, and keep liquid cleaners and abrasive pads off the brass finish.
