Where should I mount it, and how high?

Sconces are commonly mounted with their centre about 60″ to 66″ above the floor, then adjusted to suit the room. At 17.8″ tall and 13″ wide, it fits well on either side of a bed or a mirror, along a hallway, or on a dining room wall. Leave a little space on each side so the glass leaves are not crowded by a door frame or a mirror edge.

How far does it stick out from the wall?

The listed size is width and height only. The leaves overlap in layers, so the fixture has real depth. If space is tight, for example in a narrow hallway or beside a bed, ask us for the exact depth before you order.

The glass is blown. Will mine look like the photo?

Very close, but not identical. Blown glass is shaped one piece at a time, so each leaf has slightly different curves, thickness and sometimes tiny bubbles. If you buy two sconces for either side of a bed or mirror, they will match in style and size, but the leaves will not be exact copies.

What does it look like lit?

The ribbed glass breaks the light into fine diagonal lines, so the leaves glow softly and warm, with the gold backplate adding a golden tint. You can see the bulb faintly through the lower leaves from some angles. It works as a gentle accent light on a wall and is not a bright task light, so for reading in bed, pair it with a separate lamp.

What bulb can I use, given the 15W limit?

The listed maximum power is 15W, so use a bulb at or below that rating. An LED is the easiest way to stay within the limit and keeps the glass cool. Edison bulbs also fit. The socket is E14, which is slightly wider than the E12 base common in the US, so check the base printed on the box. A warm white bulb suits the champagne tint of the glass.

Can I dim it or use it in a bathroom?

It is listed as compatible with common wall switches, which are not included. Dimming is not listed, so ask us first if you want to use a dimmer. No moisture rating is listed either, so we recommend dry indoor rooms only. If you want it near a bathroom mirror, ask us first, and keep it away from the shower or bathtub.

How do I clean the feather leaves?

Switch the light off at the wall and let it cool. Dust settles in the ribs, so run a soft, dry brush along them first, then wipe each leaf gently with a microfiber cloth, holding it steady. Keep liquid cleaners off the gold finish, and do not use abrasive pads on the glass.
