Which size suits my table?

A common rule for a table is to pick a fixture at least 12″ narrower than the table. That means a table about 35″ wide or larger for the 22.8″ size, 43″ for the 30.7″ size, and 51″ for the 38.6″ size. Because it is a ring, it sits most naturally over a round table or the middle of a square one. For a long rectangular table, hang two of the smaller size in a row instead.

Will I see the bulbs? Where does the light go?

Yes, you will see some of the bulbs, because they sit on short arms on the inner side of the rings, in the open centre, and the glass tiles stand around the outside. From across the room, the tiles glow with a coloured, ribbed light. From directly below or from across the open centre, you will see the bulbs themselves. If you do not want bare bulbs on show, use frosted or amber-tinted LED bulbs.

Should I choose lake blue or amber?

Lake blue is a deep, slightly teal blue that looks cool and stays that way even in a warm room, so it suits rooms with warm wood, white walls or neutral furniture. Amber gives a honey-toned glow and suits dining rooms and warm palettes. The shape, size and gold frame are the same in both.

How is it hung, and how do I set the height?

It hangs from thin cables, which keep the ring level and let it float. Over a table, a common guide is to hang the bottom 30″ to 36″ above the tabletop. In a walkway, keep the bottom at least 7 feet above the floor. Since the ring is only 5.9″ tall, it takes very little room on its own. Send us your ceiling height and where you want the bottom, and we will confirm the cable length you need.

How many bulbs does it take, and which kind?

The fixture has 6, 9 or 12 E14 sockets depending on size, so the larger sizes give more light. E14 is slightly wider than the E12 base common in the US, so check the base printed on the box. The light is listed as a warm 3000K, a soft golden white. Buy all the bulbs in the same type so the ring glows evenly.

Can I dim it?

No. It is controlled by a push button switch and is not dimmable. A dimmer will not work with it. For softer light in the evening, use lower-brightness warm bulbs.

Can I use it in a bathroom? How do I clean so many tiles?

No bathroom: it is rated IP20, which means no protection against water, so it is for dry indoor rooms only. To clean it, switch it off and let the bulbs cool, then wipe each tile with a soft, dry microfiber cloth, holding it steady with your other hand. Dust settles on the top edge of each tile, so go over those first. Keep liquid cleaners off the gold finish.
