Tense Pendant Lamp Details
The Tense Pendant Lamp features a long horizontal silk diffuser hand-stretched over a slim iron frame and supported by a near-invisible wire suspension. The natural silk creates subtle variations across its asymmetrical form, allowing the light to appear different from each viewing angle. Available in six sizes from 50 to 100 cm wide, this pendant works beautifully above dining tables, kitchen islands, reading areas, and open-plan living spaces. Its integrated LED diffuses through the silk to create a soft, even warm glow, while the slim profile gives the fixture a quiet architectural presence.

Real Silk — Each Diffuser Is Hand-Stretched
The Tense uses real silk fabric over an iron frame. Silk is a natural fiber: fine grain runs through the weave, and small variations in tension across the frame produce subtle differences in fold and surface from one piece to the next. Each diffuser is stretched by hand at the factory — yours will not match the photo exactly. When the LED is on, the silk weave reads as a soft, even warm wash with faint texture; this is the fiber, not a defect.
Warm White LED · Fixed Color Temperature
The integrated LED ships at a single warm-white color temperature. The light is not dimmable as standard. If you need a dimmable build or a different color temperature for your install, contact us before ordering.

Reading the Sizes
The diameter listed is the width along the long horizontal axis — the most visible dimension when the pendant is hung. Height is constant at 15 cm across all sizes; the form is flat and horizontal regardless of which size you pick. As a rough rule for hanging over a dining table, the diffuser should be roughly two-thirds the table's long-axis length: D800 over a 120 cm table, D1000 over a 150 cm table.

Installation
- Hardwired ceiling installation — a licensed electrician is recommended.
- Compatible with a standard on-off wall switch (not included). The fixture is not dimmable as standard; do not pair it with a dimmer.
- Wire suspension ships at a standard length. For higher ceilings, request a longer cable before the order ships.
- The shade is light — the iron skeleton plus silk diffuser weighs less than a stone or alabaster pendant of similar size — so a standard ceiling junction box is sufficient for all six sizes.
- Integrated LED — the light source is sealed inside the diffuser and is not user-replaceable.
- For indoor use only. Not suitable for bathrooms, showers, or damp locations — silk absorbs moisture and yellows with humidity.
- Dust the silk gently with a soft, dry brush every few months. Do not use water, cleaning sprays, or a vacuum — these will mark or pull the fiber.
FAQ
Which size suits my room?
For a single fixture as the primary ceiling light: D500 (50 cm) suits a bedside, reading corner, or small entry up to about 8 m². D600 to D700 covers tea spaces, narrow dining nooks, and foyers up to 10 m². D800 is the standard dining-table size, suitable for tables 120 cm or longer and rooms up to 14 m². D900 and D1000 are sized for full dining tables, larger seating areas, and open-plan living rooms up to 18 m². Over a dining table specifically, the diffuser width should be roughly two-thirds the table length.
Is the diffuser real silk or a synthetic fabric?
Real silk fabric, not synthetic. Many similar-looking horizontal pendants on the market use a polymer or paper-fabric blend that mimics silk at lower cost — those have a flatter, more uniform surface. The Lyna uses actual silk fiber, which is why the diffuser shows fine grain through the weave and why the surface catches light slightly differently from each angle. The trade-off is that silk yellows in damp environments and cannot be cleaned with water; see the installation and care notes.
Will my Lyna look exactly like the photos?
Close, but not identical. Each silk diffuser is hand-stretched over the iron frame, so small differences in tension produce subtle variations in the fold and surface from one piece to the next. This is consistent with the wabi-sabi style the fixture is designed around — quiet imperfection is part of the form, not a deviation from it.
How do I clean the silk?
Dust the diffuser gently every two to three months with a soft, dry brush — a clean blush brush, paint brush, or natural-bristle duster works well. Do not use water, cleaning sprays, vacuum attachments, or sticky lint rollers — these will leave marks, pull the fiber, or saturate the silk.
Can I use a dimmer with this light?
Not as standard. The default driver is wired for a standard on-off switch — connecting it to a dimmer can cause flicker, buzzing, or premature LED failure. If you want a dimmable Lyna, contact us before ordering and we can build it with a Triac-compatible warm-dimming driver instead.
Is the Lyna certified for North America and Europe?
Yes. It operates on AC 110–240V worldwide, with compliance suitable for North America, Europe, Saudi Arabia, and Australia.
