Liora Light expert buying guide
Product-specific guidance for selecting, installing, using, and caring for lighting in this collection.
Fabric diffuses the bulb and reduces sharp glare, creating broad ambient light. Dark, dense, or lined fabric transmits less light than pale open-weave material, so check shade colour and bulb configuration.
Compare shade diameter and height with the base, table, or room scale, and make sure the bulb remains hidden from normal viewing angles. For ceiling fixtures, also confirm head clearance and total drop.
Follow the stated bulb base and maximum wattage and maintain the required clearance from the fabric. Low-heat LED bulbs are commonly preferred, but the fixture specification controls.
Remove loose dust with a soft brush, lint roller suitable for the fabric, or low-suction tool. Avoid wet cleaning unless the manufacturer explicitly permits it, as moisture can stain or distort the shade.
Fabric can absorb grease, moisture, and odours, so it is generally better in dry living and sleeping areas. Use it in a kitchen or bathroom only when the complete product is expressly rated and practical for that environment.
