Yes, the shade is natural alabaster, which is translucent, so the light glows through the stone. The veining and tone vary from piece to piece, so yours will be close to the photo but never identical. The brushed brass-colored fittings are metal.
It takes an E12 or E14 base bulb, either LED or Edison. E12 is the usual small base in North America and E14 in Europe, so pick the one that fits your order. It is controlled by a wall switch and does not dim.
