FAQ
Will the veining on my sconce match the photo?
Not exactly, and that's what makes natural stone special. Each sconce is shaped from a solid piece of Spanish alabaster, so the veins, from pale cream to warm amber, fall differently on every piece. The photo shows one example, with a few rust-colored lines across a creamy white body. Yours might have more veining, less, or a different arrangement entirely. The capsule shape and the honed surface will be the same on all of them. Orders take 5 to 10 days on average to prepare before they ship.
How much light does it give?
It gives a soft, warm glow that shines through the stone. The LED is built in at 3000K, and the alabaster turns that into an even, cloudy light with no hard edges or visible bulb. It's ideal for accent and mood lighting beside a bed, along a hallway, or next to a mirror. It isn't designed to light a whole room or to be a reading light by itself. For brighter tasks, add a ceiling light or a lamp. Because the light comes through the whole stone, the veining is part of the effect.
Should I pick the 10cm or the 12cm diameter?
Both are 40cm (15.7") tall, so the only difference is the width. The 10cm (3.9") version is slimmer and fits tight spots such as narrow hallways or either side of a small mirror. The 12cm (4.7") version has a larger glowing surface and a bit more presence on the wall. If you're hanging a pair, the same size on both sides will look the most balanced. A common starting point is placing the center around 150cm from the floor. Tape a paper strip of the same size to the wall to see how it sits before you drill.
What's the difference between the gold and black finish?
The finish refers to the metal detail, the band around the middle of the stone, and the stone itself is white in both versions. Gold is a warm satin tone that echoes the amber veins and suits cream walls, wood, and traditional or soft modern rooms. Black draws a crisp line across the white stone and looks sharp in minimalist or darker rooms. Both stay quiet and understated once the light is on. If you can't decide, hold a sample of your wall color next to each shade in daylight.
Can I dim it, and do I need an electrician to install it?
It has a push button switch and isn't dimmable, so it can't be used with a dimmer. The sconce is wall mounted and runs on AC 110 to 240V, which suits most homes. If you're connecting it to wiring in the wall, a licensed electrician is the safe option. Turn the power off at the breaker before work begins. Because the shade is solid stone, fix it securely to the wall with proper anchors or into a stud.
Can it go near moisture, and how do I clean it?
It's made for indoor use and isn't rated for wet areas, so keep it away from direct splashes and heavy steam. Alabaster is a natural stone that can take in moisture, which makes a bathroom a risky spot unless it's well away from the sink and shower. For cleaning, switch off the light and wipe the honed surface with a soft, dry cloth. Alabaster is soft, so avoid abrasive pads, glass cleaner, and acidic products. If you find a mark, dab it with a barely damp cloth and dry the spot straight away. Bedrooms, hallways, and living rooms are the best places for it.
