Cairo Dome Alabaster Pendant Light
The Cairo Dome Alabaster Pendant Light features a single alabaster dome — a half-sphere carved from natural stone — hung beneath a slim cylindrical alabaster neck. The neck and the dome are made from the same block of stone, so the join reads as a continuous surface rather than a contrast of materials. A bare bulb sits inside the dome; when it's on, the stone glows from within, and the cylinder above lights up like a small column. Hung from a single black cord with a brass canopy, the form is small (18 cm wide) and quiet — sized for a bedside, a kitchen island in clusters of three, or a tea space where a softer light is wanted.

Natural Alabaster — Each Dome Is Unique
Alabaster is a translucent natural stone with grey-brown veining and faint honey cloudiness through the white base. The dome and the cylindrical neck are cut from the same block, but the vein pattern, vein density, and underlying tone will vary from the photo. When the bulb is on, the veins read brightest because they're where the stone is thinnest — this is normal alabaster behavior, not a defect.
Candelabra-Base Bulb · Bulb Not Included
The Cairo Dome takes one candelabra-base bulb — the small-screw socket common to chandelier-style bulbs. Bulbs are not included. We recommend a warm-white LED (2700–3000K) to bring out the honey tones in the alabaster veining; a max 40W bulb keeps the dome cool to the touch.

Reading the Sizes
The dome diameter is the same on both variants — 18 cm. The 1.5 cm difference is in the length of the cylindrical neck above the dome, so when both variants are hung from the same ceiling, the Standard hangs slightly higher than the Extended. The difference is most useful when ordering a cluster: alternating Standard and Extended at the same canopy height creates a staggered profile across the cluster. For a single pendant, either works — the choice is about how you want the cylinder to read against the ceiling.

Installation
- Hardwired ceiling installation — a licensed electrician is recommended.
- Compatible with a standard wall switch (not included). For dimming, use a Triac dimmer paired with a dimmable LED bulb — non-dimmable bulbs will not dim.
- Confirm the small-base socket type (E14 or E12) before buying bulbs. E14 is European; E12 is North American — bulbs are not interchangeable. We can confirm which is supplied with your order.
- Twist the bulb gently into the socket inside the dome. Do not exceed 40W — higher-wattage bulbs run hot and can stain the alabaster over time.
- The brass canopy mounts directly to a standard ceiling junction box. The pendant is light — alabaster dome + brass hardware — so a standard box is sufficient.
- Cord ships at a standard drop length. If you need a longer cord for high ceilings or shorter for low ceilings, request the length before the order ships.
- For indoor use only. Not suitable for bathrooms, showers, or damp locations — alabaster is porous and absorbs moisture.
FAQ
Are the dome and the neck really the same piece of stone?
Yes — the cylindrical neck above the dome and the dome itself are cut from a single block of alabaster, so the vein pattern continues across both pieces. Most competing dome pendants use a brass or ceramic collar between the cord and the dome, which breaks the visual continuity. Keeping the neck in matching alabaster is the small detail that separates this fixture from a generic dome pendant.
What's the difference between H230 and H245?
The dome is identical on both — 18 cm wide. The difference is in the alabaster cylinder above the dome: H230 has a shorter neck, H245 has a 1.5 cm longer neck. This is mainly useful for clusters — order a mix and hang them at the same canopy height to get a staggered profile. For a single pendant, either works; the choice is about how much of the lit cylinder you want visible against the ceiling.
Will my Cairo Dome look exactly like the photo?
No. Alabaster is a quarried stone — every block has its own pattern of veining and tone. The photo shows one representative piece. Your dome will have a different vein pattern, a different vein density, and may sit slightly whiter or warmer than the photo. When the bulb is on, the veins glow brightest because they're where the stone is thinnest. This variation is normal alabaster behavior, not damage or a manufacturing flaw.
What kind of bulb does it take?
A small candelabra-base bulb — the same screw size used in chandelier and decorative fixtures. The exact thread is either E14 (European, slightly larger) or E12 (North American, slightly smaller); we'll confirm which one is supplied with your order, since the bulbs are not interchangeable. Recommended: any warm-white LED at 2700–3000K, maximum 40W equivalent. Buy a dimmable bulb if you want to dim the fixture from a wall switch.
Can I cluster multiple Cairo Domes?
Yes — clusters of three or five Cairo Domes work well over a kitchen island, dining bar, or stair void. Each pendant ships with its own brass canopy and cord. Order a mix of H230 and H245 to get a staggered cluster profile at a single ceiling height. For a cluster on a single canopy with adjustable cord lengths, contact us before ordering and we can quote the multi-pendant build.
How does this compare to the original Cairo (the stacked alabaster pendant)?
The original Cairo is the three-piece stacked pendant — cup, ring, and sphere on a slim brass rod, with an integrated LED. The Cairo Dome is a single-piece pendant — alabaster dome with a matching alabaster cylinder neck, on a black cord, taking a swappable candelabra-base bulb. Both are part of the Cairo series and use natural alabaster, but they suit different rooms: the original Cairo is sculptural and reads as a small object hung in space; the Cairo Dome is quieter and reads as a fixture that diffuses light evenly downward.
Is it certified for North America and Europe?
Yes. It operates on AC 110–240V worldwide with compliance suitable for North America, Saudi Arabia, Europe, and Australia.
