Use an LED bulb with an E27 base, or an Edison bulb if you like a more vintage look. LEDs are the better choice for a paper shade because they run much cooler. Stay at or below the 40W maximum, and remember that a typical LED uses only a small part of that. A warm white bulb around 2700K gives the soft, candle-like glow that suits mulberry paper. Choose a standard-size bulb that sits comfortably inside the 26cm wide shade, and check that it fits your socket before ordering if you're outside E27 regions.

It's closer to a mood lamp, though a pleasant one. The paper spreads the light in every direction and softens it, so the whole shade glows without any hard glare. It's listed for rooms of about 10 to 15 square meters, which makes it a good fit for a bedside, a reading nook, or a corner of the living room. In a bigger room, treat it as accent lighting alongside other lights. If you need a lamp for detailed work, a brighter bulb within the 40W limit helps a little, but a desk lamp will do better.

The shade is mulberry paper over a metal frame, so it's light and delicate, though it isn't flimsy. Pushing on it or squeezing it can dent or tear the paper, so lift it by the base or frame rather than the shade. Heat is the main thing to watch with paper, which is why we suggest an LED bulb and a wattage within the limit. Always switch the lamp off and let the bulb cool before changing it. Keep it on a stable surface where it won't get knocked, and away from curtains or anything that could press against the shade.

The lamp comes with a 150cm (59") cord that has a plug and a push button switch on it. You press the button to turn it on and off, so there's no need for a wall switch. It isn't dimmable, so it can't be used with a dimmer or a smart dimmer plug. The voltage range is AC 110 to 240V, which suits most countries. The lamp is 26cm (10.2") wide and 43cm (16.9") tall, so it's compact enough for a side table, bedside, or sideboard. It stands on three thin metal legs, which gives it a light, airy look and keeps the shade off the surface. Because the legs have a small footprint, it works on narrow shelves and small tables too. Give it a few centimeters of room all round so the paper doesn't touch walls or other objects. It's a good size for a bedroom, a hallway console, or a corner next to a sofa.

Dry cleaning is the safest. Switch it off, let it cool, and dust the shade with a soft brush or a feather duster. Please don't wipe the paper with water or a damp cloth, because it can leave stains or make the paper warp. The lamp is rated IP20, which means it isn't waterproof and should stay in dry, indoor rooms. That rules out bathrooms, covered patios, and any damp area. Bedrooms, living rooms, and studies are the best places for it.
