FAQ
Which one should I choose, the 10A or the 14A?
The 10A is 50cm (19.7") wide and 125cm (49.2") tall, with a broad, rounded shade that makes a soft, wide pool of light. The 14A is 33cm (13") wide and 162cm (63.7") tall, so it's slim and tall and takes up less floor space. The 10A suits a corner beside a sofa or armchair where its width can glow at seating height. The 14A suits narrow spots, such as a hallway, a bedroom corner, or beside a tall bookcase. Both are listed for rooms of about 10 to 15 square meters. If your room has a high ceiling, the taller 14A will look more at home.
What bulb should I use?
Use an LED or Edison bulb with an E27 base, and keep it within the 40W maximum. An LED is the better choice for a paper shade because it runs much cooler than other types. A warm white bulb around 2700K gives the soft, sun-like glow that suits the washi paper. Pick a standard-size bulb that sits comfortably inside the shade without pressing on it. Check that your bulb fits the socket before you order if you're outside E27 regions.
How bright is it?
It gives a soft, diffused glow rather than a strong beam. The paper spreads the light in every direction, so the whole shade lights up and the room feels warmer. It's an ambient lamp, and it's ideal for a living room corner, a bedroom, or a reading nook where you want comfort more than brightness. For reading a book or doing detailed work, you'll want a task lamp as well. In a larger room, use it alongside other lights.
Will it tip over, and is it okay with pets or kids?
It stands on three thin metal legs, which gives it a wide, stable stance for its height. It still helps to place it on a level floor and tuck it into a corner, away from busy walkways. A tall lamp with a paper shade can be knocked by a running child or a playful pet, and the paper can tear if it takes a hit. If you have little ones or lively animals, the shorter 10A in a protected corner is the safer choice. Keep the cord out of walking paths so nobody catches a foot on it.
Will the cord reach my outlet, and can I dim it?
The lamp has a 150cm (59") cord with a plug and a push button switch. You press the button to turn it on and off, so it doesn't need a wall switch. It isn't dimmable, so a dimmer or smart dimmer plug won't work with it. The voltage range is AC 110 to 240V, which suits most countries. If your outlet is far from where you want the lamp, a longer cord can be made on request. Check the plug type on the product page for your region before ordering.
Is the paper safe near the bulb, and how do I clean it?
With a suitable bulb it's fine. Heat is the main thing to watch with paper, so use an LED within the 40W limit. Switch the lamp off and let the bulb cool before you change it. To clean it, dust the shade with a soft brush or a feather duster, and avoid water or damp cloths because they can stain or warp the paper. The lamp is rated IP20, which means it isn't waterproof, so keep it in a dry, indoor room and out of bathrooms.
