Clear glass shows the bulb and creates sparkle, frosted glass softens glare and distributes light, and coloured glass changes both brightness and tone. Select the finish according to whether the fixture is primarily task, ambient, or decorative light.
They can be normal in hand-finished glass, along with slight differences in thickness, colour, and shape. Review product notes and images; ask support before ordering a matched group when uniformity is critical.
A frosted bulb reduces visible filament glare, while a decorative filament bulb makes the source part of the design. In both cases, follow the stated bulb base, wattage, voltage, and envelope-size limits.
Check the actual shade diameter and height because transparent material often appears visually smaller in photos. Also account for canopy size, total drop, weight, and cleaning access.
Switch off power, let the fixture cool, and use a soft lint-free cloth. Apply cleaner to the cloth rather than spraying the fixture, and avoid wetting metal joints, electrical parts, or special surface coatings.
