Velo Capsule Alabaster Pendant Lamp Details

The Velo Capsule Alabaster Pendant Lamp features two halves of natural alabaster—a rounded top and a rounded bottom—joined by a thin raw-brass band to form a single sculptural capsule. Suspended from a slim brass stem, the G9 socket sits inside the central band, illuminating both stone halves at once. The top glows from the rim downward, while the bottom glows upward from the band, creating a fine bright line across the middle of the form. Available in three sizes from 14 to 22 cm wide, the Velo is suitable for bedside areas, kitchen islands, dining tables, and stair voids, either alone or arranged in clusters of three or more.

Natural Alabaster — Each Capsule Is Unique

Alabaster is a translucent natural stone with grey-brown veining and faint honey cloudiness through the white base. The two halves of each Velo are cut and matched at the factory, but the vein pattern, vein density, and base tone will vary from the photos. When the bulbs are on, the veins read brightest because they are where the stone is thinnest — this is normal alabaster behavior, not a defect.

Small size takes 1 G9 bulb; medium and large take 3 G9 bulbs each. Bulbs are not included. We recommend a warm-white G9 LED bulb (2700–3000K) to bring out the honey tones in the alabaster.

Reading the Sizes

Diameter is measured across the widest point of the capsule. Height is the full capsule from top to bottom, not including the brass stem. The small size has one bulb, so it produces noticeably less light than the medium and large sizes — choose accordingly if the Velo is the primary light in the room.

Installation

• Hardwired ceiling installation — a licensed electrician is recommended.
• Compatible with a standard wall switch (not included). For dimming, use a Triac dimmer paired with dimmable G9 LED bulbs — non-dimmable bulbs will not dim.
• G9 base — twist the bulb gently into the socket inside the brass band. Bulbs are not included.
• Brass stem ships at a standard drop length. If you need a longer stem for high ceilings or shorter for low ceilings, request the length before the order ships.
• For indoor use only. Not suitable for bathrooms, showers, or damp locations — alabaster is porous and absorbs moisture.
• Alabaster is heavier than glass or metal of the same size. Confirm the ceiling junction box is secured into a joist or fan-rated brace, especially for the medium and large sizes.

FAQ

Will my Velo look exactly like the photos?

No. Alabaster is a quarried stone — the two halves of each capsule are matched at the factory, but the vein pattern, vein density, and underlying tone will vary from the photos. When the bulbs are on, the veins glow brightest because they're where the stone is thinnest. The capsule on the left of the product photo and the one on the right are both real Velo units, and they show how different two units can look — your unit will sit somewhere in that range.

Why does the small size only have one bulb?

The 14 cm capsule is too small to fit three G9 sockets without crowding the inside of the stone. A single bulb in the center evenly lights both halves at this scale. The 18 cm and 22 cm capsules are large enough to hold three sockets, which produces brighter and more uniform light from a longer form. If the Velo is the primary light over a kitchen island or dining table, choose medium or large.

Can I order the Velo as a multi-pendant cluster?

Yes — the Velo works well as a cluster of three or more over a kitchen island, dining bar, or stair void. Each capsule ships with its own canopy and stem. For a cluster on a single canopy with adjustable stem lengths, contact us before ordering and we can quote the multi-pendant build.

Can I use a dimmer with this light?

Yes, with the right combination. The Velo dims when paired with two things together: a dimmable G9 LED bulb (look for "dimmable" on the bulb packaging — many G9 LEDs are not dimmable) and a Triac dimmer wall switch. Halogen G9 bulbs dim natively but run hot and have short lifespans. Non-dimmable LEDs will flicker or stay at full brightness on a dimmer.
