The panels are listed as alabaster, a natural stone, so every panel has its own pattern of clouds, veins and tone. In the photo, the panels are white with soft grey and cream clouds, and yours will be similar in overall feel but not identical, because each panel is cut from a different piece of stone and the veins will fall on different panels. Alabaster is translucent, so when the light is on, the stone glows warmer and creamier than it looks when it is off.

The photo shows faceted, clear teardrop-shaped drops hanging from the lower ring, which sparkle when the light is on. The listed materials are brass and alabaster, and the material of the drops is not listed, so please ask us if you need to know it. Handle the drops gently when you clean the lamp or when it is installed.

There are four widths: 17.7″ (about 45cm), 23.6″ (about 60cm), 31.5″ (about 80cm) and 39.4″ (about 100cm), and the body of each is 7.9″ (about 20cm) tall. As a rule of thumb, a chandelier over a table looks best when it is clearly narrower than the table. The smallest suits an entrance hall, a bedroom or a small round table, the two middle sizes suit a dining table, a kitchen island or a living room, and the largest suits a long dining table, a stairwell or a big open space. Measure the table and the room before you order. The number of bulbs in each size is not listed, so ask us if you need it.

The light source is a built-in (integrated) LED, so there is no bulb to buy or to screw in, and you do not need to match a bulb base. The LED's power, brightness and lifespan are not listed, so please ask us if you need those details before you order. The alabaster spreads the light into a soft glow, so the chandelier works best as ambient light over a table or in a hall.

The listed colour temperature is warm light, 3000K. Alabaster adds its own warmth, so the panels glow creamier and more golden than the LED alone.

The chandelier is compatible with common push switches, which are not included. Dimming is not listed, so please ask us before you connect it to a dimmer.

The chandelier is hardwired, which means it connects directly to your ceiling wiring and has no plug, so it should be fitted by a qualified electrician who follows your local rules. It runs on 110–240V, so the fixture itself suits most countries. It hangs on 59″ (150cm) of wire, which can be extended on request, so tell us your ceiling height and how low you want it to hang when you order. A drum of stone panels with a brass frame is a real weight, so the ceiling fixing point must be able to carry it. The weight and whether you can shorten the wire are not listed, so ask us if you need them.

Switch off the power and let the light cool first. Dust the alabaster panels with a soft, dry cloth or brush, handling them gently, because stone can chip if it is knocked. Alabaster is a soft stone that scratches and stains easily and reacts to acids, so avoid water, vinegar, lemon, glass cleaner and abrasive pads on the stone. Wipe the drops with a soft, dry cloth, and wipe the gold-toned metal with a dry cloth, avoiding scouring pads and strong cleaners. The chandelier is rated IP20, which means indoor use only and not waterproof, so keep it away from showers, sinks and damp spaces. Over a kitchen island, keep it clear of steam and grease.
