All three sizes are 7.9″ tall. How do I choose the width?

A common rule for a table is to pick a fixture at least 12″ narrower than the table. That means a table about 36″ wide or larger for the 23.7″ size, 44″ for the 31.5″ size, and 51″ for the 39.4″ size. Because the fixture is round, the 31.5″ and 39.4″ sizes suit a large round table or the centre of a square or open-plan room better than a narrow rectangular table.

Which glass colour should I choose?

Amber gives a warm, honey-toned glow that suits dining rooms and rooms with wood and leather. Green vintage is a muted, smoky green that suits a moodier or retro-leaning room. Textured clear is the lightest and most open, and the ripples in the glass catch the light without adding colour. All three have the same black frame, shape and sizes.

Where does the light go? Will it light my table?

The discs stand around the rings, so much of the light goes out sideways through the glass and fills the room with a coloured glow. Some also reaches the table below. It works best as ambient and mood lighting, and not as the only task light over a table. If you cook, work or read at the table, keep other lights in the room, or use brighter bulbs within the 40W limit.

How low will it hang, and how much ceiling height do I need?

It hangs from a slim black rod under a round black canopy. The fixture itself is only 7.9″ tall, so it takes little height. Over a table, a common guide is to hang the bottom 30″ to 36″ above the tabletop. In a walkway, keep the bottom at least 7 feet above the floor. Send us your ceiling height and where you want the bottom to sit, and we will confirm the rod length you need.

What bulbs should I buy, and what colour temperature?

The socket is E14, which is slightly wider than the E12 base common in the US, so check the base printed on the box. Each socket takes up to 40W. The colour temperature depends on the bulb you choose: warm white (about 2700K) deepens the amber and green and gives a cozy glow, and a cooler white makes the glass look lighter and more neutral. LED bulbs run cooler than incandescent and are kinder to the glass.

Do I need an electrician? Can I dim it? Where can't I use it?

It is hardwired and we recommend professional installation. It works on 110–240V, which includes standard US household voltage. It is listed as compatible with a standard wall switch, which is not included. Dimming is not listed, so ask us first if you want to use a dimmer. It is rated IP20 for indoor dry locations only, so do not hang it in a bathroom or on a covered patio.

How do I clean the glass discs?

Switch it off and let the bulbs cool. Wipe each disc with a soft, dry microfiber cloth, holding it steady with your other hand so the stud does not twist. Dust settles on the upper edge of the discs, so go over those first. Keep liquid cleaners off the black finish.
