Currency. Prices are displayed and charged in U.S. Dollars (USD) by default. International customers may see an estimated local-currency total at checkout, but the final charge from your card issuer or bank may include a small foreign exchange spread set by your bank — not by us.
— Checkout Security —

How your details stay protected

Payment security is built into every layer of our checkout — from the moment you enter your details to the moment your bank confirms the charge. Here's what's happening behind the scenes.

SSL Encryption

Every page on our site uses TLS 1.2+ encryption. The lock icon in your browser's address bar means your information is encrypted on its way to and from our servers.

PCI-DSS Compliant

Our payment partners maintain PCI-DSS Level 1 certification — the highest standard in the payment industry. Card details are tokenized; we never store your full card number.

3D Secure

Eligible cards are protected by 3D Secure 2 (Verified by Visa, Mastercard SecureCode, AmEx SafeKey). You may be asked for a one-time bank-issued code on your first purchase.

Fraud Monitoring

Every order is screened by automated fraud signals. Suspicious activity may trigger a manual review or a verification request — slightly slower for you, but much safer overall.

— How Payment Works —

From checkout to charge

A straightforward look at what happens between hitting "Place Order" and seeing the charge on your statement.

i
Authorization

Your card is checked and the amount is reserved. No money has moved yet — this is a hold, not a charge.

ii
Verification

For some orders, a 3D Secure prompt or AVS check confirms it's really you. This usually takes seconds.

iii
Capture

Once your order is ready to ship, the authorized amount is captured — this is when the actual charge appears on your statement.

iv
Settlement

Funds settle from your bank to our processor over 1–3 business days. The charge is now final.

About pending charges. If your order is canceled before shipping, the authorization (the temporary hold) expires automatically — typically within 5 business days, depending on your bank. No action is needed from you, and no actual charge will appear on your statement.
— Common Questions —

Payment questions, answered

A card decline almost always comes from your bank, not us. Common causes include: the billing address you entered doesn't match your bank's records, your card has insufficient funds or hit a daily limit, or your bank flagged the transaction as unusual. Calling the number on the back of your card and confirming the purchase usually resolves it within minutes.
Not double-charged. What you're seeing is most likely an authorization (a temporary hold from when you placed the order) and a separate capture (the actual charge once we shipped). The authorization disappears automatically within a few business days, leaving only the real charge. If both charges remain after 7 business days, please contact us.
For in-stock items, we capture the charge when the order ships — typically within 1–3 business days of order placement. For made-to-order items, charges are captured at order placement to confirm production. Pre-orders are charged on the date listed at checkout.
Yes — but the card is never actually stored on our site. When you save a payment method, your details are tokenized and stored by our PCI-certified processor (e.g., Shop Pay or PayPal), not by Liora Lighting. We see only the last 4 digits and the card type. You can remove a saved card from your account at any time.
Eligible orders may be split into installment payments at checkout via our payment partners (e.g., Shop Pay Installments). The option appears automatically on the checkout page if your order qualifies. Approval, eligibility, and rates are determined by the payment provider, not by Liora Lighting.
Once an order is placed, the payment method cannot be edited. If you need to change it, please email us within 1 hour of order placement and we'll cancel the existing order so you can re-place it with the correct payment. Once an order has shipped, no payment changes are possible.
Refunds are issued to the original payment method. Most refunds reach your account within 3–10 business days, depending on your card issuer or bank. PayPal refunds are usually instant. We can't refund to a different card or account than the one originally used.
If something is wrong with your order, please always contact us first — most issues are resolved within a single conversation. Filing a chargeback before reaching out tends to slow resolution by several weeks and can complicate future orders. We're easy to reach and quick to respond.
